For day trips, the Castles of the Duke of Parma and Piacenza, and the the fortified town of Vigoleno are only a few kilometers away on the road to Francigena. The abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba, Vigolo Marchese with a Romanesque complex of major importance and, 400 meters above sea level, inland, is Velleia, the "Pompeii of the northern Italy", which is famous for its Roman ruins.
